EP Review: Kem, Full Circle

Musician Kem returns to the scene with his latest EP, Full Circle. The Detroit-based singer opens up his latest project with “Stuck On You,” which has seen success on the Urban AC charts. An airy love song written by Kem and co-produced by Derek “DOA” Allen, the track is the vein reminiscent of an early eighties Lionel Richie.

Kem’s tenor glides through the song as he effortlessly croons his feelings toward his intended. The lyrics include, “We be making love til the morning/Can’t you hear the raindrops falling/ In your tenderness/And even when my world is spinning/I got a brand new beginning/When I feel your kiss.”

“The Best Is Yet To Come” is up next and reminded me of a steppers-style song with the groovy production. I can’t help but wonder why Kem didn’t feature a Chi-town based like Common on the track as he would fit perfectly.

Miami-based Hip Hop artist Rick Ross does join KEM for the album’s third track, “Right On Time,” an infectious bop that will have you ready to break out the roller skates. Most surprising on the EP is Ty Dolla $ign, who joins Kem for the titular EP track. The song shouldn’t work, but somehow, it does.

Kem closes out the EP with “Lonely,” a song that I thought would be a deary ballad. Instead, Kem gives another mid-tempo solid track perfect for sipping a glass of wine.

Final Grade: B+

As fans prepare for his upcoming co-headlining tour, Ne-Yo isn’t just revisiting his past; he’s expanding his horizons. “Up Out & Gone” continues his recent shift towards country-influenced sounds, but it’s important to note that this isn’t a genre switch—it’s a blend.

Album Review : Jack Harlow, Monica

If you had told me ten years ago that I would fall behind on music, I would have laughed it off. But as they say, we are all adulting now. Thankfully, friends like Edward Bowser from SoulInStereo.com and Brandon Sullivan from Shatter The Standards keep my musical interests alive.
