Late last year you opened up for the legendary Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, which is no small feat. How did that opportunity come together, and what did the moment mean to you?
K Quick:
That concert was a huge success, and honestly, it was an honor and a blessing to share the stage with one of the most influential hip-hop groups of all time. The opportunity came about through my long-standing relationship with Flesh-N-Bone. I’ve been his protégé for several years now—he truly took me under his wing and became an incredible mentor. After years of working closely together, everything aligned naturally, and I was fortunate enough to open not just for him, but for the entire group. It was a full-circle moment for me.

You’re a Maryland native. Growing up in the DMV, who were some of your earliest musical influences?
K Quick:
My father was actually my first influence. He’s an excellent singer and performer, and watching him really planted the seed for me. Outside of that, Michael Jackson is my favorite artist of all time. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony had a massive influence on me as well. I also drew inspiration from artists like Busta Rhymes and Eminem.

Your song “Water” has gained serious traction. Can you walk us through the writing process behind it?
K Quick:
“Water” came from a very specific place. I co-star in a feature film with the same title, and I wanted to create an official theme song for the movie. To do that, I stepped back into the mindset of the character I portray and wrote the record from his perspective. The response has been amazing—the song and soundtrack are doing very well, and the music video has become my highest-viewed to date. It also won Best Music Video of 2025 at the DMV Music and Movie Awards.

“H.O.M.E.” is a standout record with undeniable energy. How did the collaboration with Letica Soul come together?
K Quick:
I knew from the start that I wanted to do a go-go record. One of my producers, Adonis Progress, and I built the foundation in the studio, but I could tell it was missing one final element. Honestly, I couldn’t picture anyone else on the record but Letica. We’ve known each other since we were kids, she’s part of my team, and we’ve worked on multiple projects together. Once I pitched the idea to her, she was immediately on board and excited to be part of it.

Hip-hop continues to evolve. As a fan of music, is there an old-school act you’d love to see signed to a legacy-focused label?
K Quick:
I’d love to see En Vogue return with something new. They’re one of the greatest female vocal groups of all time.
