How To Build A Sex Room is an elegant mix on home renovation and intimacy

A different kind of home remodeling show comes to Netflix in How to Build a Sex Room. You have seen kitchen renovations and bathroom transformations, but you have never seen anything like this! How to Build a Sex Room unveils a couple’s most intimate desire and helps them build a stunning room around them. Melanie Rose – aka the Mary Poppins of sex rooms – who began her career doing high-end interior design for LA’s wealthiest families, hosts the series. It was not until one of her clients pulled her aside and asked if she could renovate their’ third space’ that she accidentally began a career fulfilling couples’ fantasies through these spaces – and she’s never loved a job more.

Renovation shows were never my cup of tea. However, the plot synopsis of How to Build a Sex Room caught my eye, so my wife and I decided to give the show a look. One of the first things I want to point out about the show is that it’s not a reality show about couples having sex, and filled with gratuitous nudity is held back. Instead, this is a show about couples coming together to strengthen their relationship through intimacy. Over the course of eight episodes, we meet all kinds of couples, including same-sex and interracial, which added another layer to the show. In addition, the show has episodes about married couples, long-distance relationships, and polyamorous.

One of the things I am sure couples who watch this show with their partner will relate to is how adulating can sometimes get in the way of intimacy with your spouse. My wife and I couldn’t help at smile at hearing strangers talk about long work days, kids, and laundry all being a factor in lack of adult time with your spouse.

Melanie Rose is a wonderful host for the show and has a jubilant personality that shows she cares for the clients. Melanie can deliver whatever her clients want, whether a mechanical bull in their sex room or a spa-like atmosphere. One of the most thought-provoking quotes in the series is when Melanie says, “When people hear the words ‘sex rooms,’ they concentrate on the word ‘sex.'” “And that connotes ‘dirty,’ ‘disgusting.’ Sex rooms are not disgusting.” “A sex room can be anything from a sumptuous bedroom to a dungeon under the stairs. But when I design them, they can be beautiful.”

While I will not go into detail about some of the rooms, I was never bored watching the show and found each room to be a work of art. Never dull or repetitive with its themes, How to Build a Sex Room is a perfect binge for Netflix & Chill.

“The Clean up Crew” is a cinematic mess

Following the underwhelming ‘Cult Killer,’ director Jon Keeyes fails to deliver an enjoyable action film with ‘The Clean up Crew,’ released by Saban Films. The screenplay, penned by Matthew Rogers, features a cast including Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Swen Temmel, Ekaterina Baker, Academy Award winner Melissa Leo, and Antonio Banderas, who previously collaborated with Keeyes on ‘Cult Killer.’
