A sweet date night watch: “Is It Cake”? celebrates Valentine’s Day

Comedian Mikey Day reunites with Netflix for a special episode of the hit show “Is It Cake.” Following the success of the Christmas episode, it makes sense that Netflix would produce a Valentine’s Day-themed installment.

Cupid’s arrow has struck the “Is It Cake” kitchen for the first-ever Is It Cake? Valentine’s special! Three baking couples of master cake artists compete. Together, they tackle ALL NEW games, craft swoon worthy cakes, and attempt to fool the judges and each other! AND for the first time in Is It Cake history, there are games just for the viewer! With hearts pounding and money on the line, these couples are in for the sweetest date night of their lives!

The featured bakers are all couples, including Alex and Amanda, Jason and Tyler, and Kimberly and Tarus. On the judging panel are celebrity couples Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross, as well as Casey Wilson and David Caspe.

After four seasons, viewers should be familiar with “Is It Cake?” Mikey Day has truly found his niche as a host, and his jokes continue to land well. The special deserves credit for featuring real-life celebrity couples instead of trying to force romantic tension among single contestants. Part of the fun comes from the witty banter between the contestants, who, despite their long-term relationships, still exhibit a sense of freshness.

This Valentine’s Day, notable changes things up by having couples create cakes inspired by milestone moments in their relationships. As a sentimental person, I appreciated this aspect, as I still remember every detail of my first date with my wife from 2007. The special maintains a light-hearted tone and avoids any backstabbing among competitors, which is a refreshing change in today’s world.

While “Is It Cake? Valentine’s” may not be long enough for a full Netflix & Chill session, it’s sweet enough to bring a smile to your face.

Tribeca 2026 Review: Alicia Keys: Girl from Hell’s Kitchen

Tribeca 2026 featured a strong lineup of music documentaries for Black Music Month. After seeing the EWF doc- sadly, I missed the documentary about The LOX- I made sure to view the closing-night film, “Alicia Keys: Girl from Hell’s Kitchen”, directed by One9.
