Aldis Hodge Commands the Case Again in Prime Video’s ‘Cross’ Season 2
Aldis Hodge is back on the case as Alex Cross for Season 2 of Prime Video’s “Cross”. Ben Watkins returns as showrunner, with directors including Stacy Muhammad and Craig Siebels.
R&B balladeer Johnny Gill was basking in the success of his self-titled third solo album in the spring of 1991 when he contributed a soulful ditty to the soundtrack for the classic film “New Jack City.” Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis affiliate, the late Randy Ran, wrote and produced the song. No stranger to singing about heartbreak, the song finds Gill crooning about longing for a supportive, dependable partner in life. Ran’s lyrics convey a sense of vulnerability and the need for emotional support.
Gill opens the song with a retable lyric, “Got Myself Together,” to which anyone who has moved out of their parent’s home, got a good-paying job, and come into their own as an adult could relate. The song’s lyrics express Gill’s unwavering commitment to his beloved, who he knows is out in the world. With heartfelt vocals, Gill promises not to shy away from the person he addresses and declares that he will never leave them again.
His vocal demonstrates his willingness to endure challenges and stay by their side until the end. Gill vows that he will stand the rain, indicating that he is ready to weather any storm that comes their way. The chorus reinforces the idea of waiting for someone who will be there in times of need. It emphasizes the importance of a reliable partner, seeking their support and presence throughout life’s struggles. “I’m Still Waiting” reflects the longing for a lasting connection with someone who will provide unwavering support and be there during good and bad times.
As a ballad “I’m Still Waiting” successfully validates the message that patience is a virtue when it comes to matters of the heart, especially when waiting for your significant other. Thirty-three years later, the song still holds up, and I wish Gill would perform it more live in concert.
Final Grade: A
“I’m Still Waiting” is available on all streaming platforms.

Civil War dramas often measure valor through cannon fire and cavalry charges. However, “The Gray House*“valuates valor through coded messages, calculated risks, and the steady nerves of women who understood that information could be deadlier than any rifle. This eight-episode limited series reframes the conflict not from the battlefield, but from the drawing rooms of Richmond, where loyalty is performed, and survival depends on silence.

It’s been a month since I finished my first run at Sundance, and I’m finally getting the chance to see some of the films I missed as they began to premiere. One of those films is “In the Blink of an Eye,” which is available on Hulu. The film is directed by Andrew Stanton and written by Colby Day.
