Invincible Season 2 sticks the landing

The highly anticipated second season of the famous Prime Video series Invincible, created by The Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman, has finally arrived after a long wait. Based on a Skybound/Image comic by Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, Invincible is an adult animated superhero show that tells the story of seventeen-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who is just like any other guy his age, except for the fact that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons).

Season 2 focuses on Mark as he struggles to rebuild his life as he faces a host of new threats, all while battling his greatest fear – that he might become his father without even knowing it. I had a chance to preview the first four episodes of season 2, and I assure fans the wait was well worth it.

As with the first season, my review is spoiler-free. The show’s highlight and glue is still Mark, voiced by Yuen, who effortlessly embodies the teenage angst of a young man struggling to make the right choices while bearing the burden of his father’s past mistakes. Most of the voice cast from the previous season is back, and they all deliver outstanding voice performances.

Invincible quickly captured the attention of its loyal fan base in its first season and continues to exceed expectations in its second installment. The show does not only neatly tie up loose ends from the previous season, but it also revisits some of the intricacies that may have previously gone unnoticed.

The standout aspect of the show is its world building, which has evolved from being a mere imitation of other superhero universes to becoming truly distinct and captivating. The attention to detail in this world is remarkable, providing an immersive experience for viewers that is easy to comprehend.

In Season 2, viewers are introduced to Angstrom Levy, played by the talented Sterling K. Brown. Levy is a potentially formidable adversary who brings a fresh and unique approach to villainy. With his exceptional skill set and unconventional methods, Levy promises to add a new dynamic to the series, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats and eagerly anticipating the next episode.

Final Grade: A

The second season of Invincible first half consists of four episodes, premiering weekly starting Friday, November 3.

Megan Fox is the lone bright spot in the lifeless “Subservience”

Alice (Fox) is a lifelike, artificially intelligent android who can care for any family and home. Looking for help with the housework, struggling father Nick (Michele Morrone) purchases Alice after his wife Maggie (Madeline Zima) becomes sick. Alice suddenly becomes self-aware and wants everything her new family has to offer, starting with the affection of her owner — and she’ll kill to get it.

Fight Night: Million Dollar Heist is knockout entertainment

Director Craig Brewer is helming four episodes of the series.
