Daym Drops shines in Netflix’s Fresh, Fried & Crispy

YouTube superstar Daym Drops brings his lively personality and love of food to Netflix in the reality show Fresh, Fried & Crispy. Extra crispy pork chops in Birmingham, deep-fried Oreos in San Diego, and jumbo lump crab cakes in Baltimore. Is your mouth watering yet? Daym Drops, the Grandfather of Food Reviews on YouTube with more than 250 million views, travels all around the country to find the best-unknown fried dishes coming from the streets, fancy restaurants, and home kitchens. Come along for the ride as he hunts down the crispiest bite in town!

Recently I have gone on a health kick and cut back on my fried food. However, I have always loved to watch the creation of fried food, so Fresh, Fried & Crispy was right up my alley. Daym Drops naturally has the gift of gab, and throughout the eight-episode series, he interacts with the chefs and shows a general appreciation for culinary arts. There is never a moment in the show where Daym comes across as corny, and his reactions to the various foods he is trying come across as natural.

Naturally, we get a chance to see Daym try fried food staples such as soft-shell crab sandwiches in Baltimore and fried pork chops in Birmingham. Watching the show with my wife, I was surprised at some of the deep-fried foods featured and their glorious presentation. When Daym tried a fried Rattlesnake Hot Dog in Colorado, my mouth dropped. However, the entrée that actually caught my eye was fried Kool-Aid. Now I had heard about fried liquids before. During my lone Air Deployment way back in 2006, I had some downtime and searched for excellent fried food myself. Instantly fried Coke came up, and while I have never partaken in the delicacy, I was curious to see the process.

In Episode 7, Daym visits San Diego, where he meets up with Charlie Boghosian, the owner of Chicken Charlie. The establishment fries everything from frog legs to Now & Laters. While I will not reveal how Charlie fries the Kool-Aid, Daym seemed to be impressed as much as I was.

Fresh, Fried & Crispy never overstays its welcome and keeps the episodes running time under thirty minutes. Daym Drops brings tremendous energy to the show, and I hope this opens up even more doors for him. Fresh, Fried & Crispy is highly recommended for foodies and travelers.

Clichés withstanding, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire keeps the franchise alive

Director Gil Kenan and co-writer Jason Reitman continue to keep a beloved franchise alive in Columbia Pictures “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.” In the previous film, Phoebe (McKenna Grace) and Trevor (Finn Wolfhard), the grandchildren of the late Ghostbuster Egon Spengler, defeated Gozer. Romance, the 80’s and crime fill the enjoyable Love Lies Bleeding

Director Rose Maud has switched genres, trading horror for a romantic crime drama in her second film, “Love Lies Bleeding.” Glass and Weronika Tofilska wrote the script, and A24 produced the movie. The story takes place in 1989 and revolves around Lou (played by Kristen Stewart), a reclusive gym manager, who falls in love with Jackie (played by Katy O’Brian), an ambitious bodybuilder heading to Las Vegas to chase her dreams.
